What’s on an application to MULTICOM?
Below, we’ve laid out all of the questions on the application so that you know what to expect when you go to fill it out online.
The application form saves your progress, so don’t worry about completing it in one sitting!

Documented by ONE of the following:
- One of the valid certificates for English proficiency specified in this table:
Language test provider C1-C2, CEFR UNIcert level UNIcert III TOEFL 105 iBT, 230 CBT, 570 PBT IELTS 7.5 TOEIC 945-990 Cambridge certificates Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE), Business English Certificate (BEC) Higher LCCI Examinations Board Level 3 grades “Merit” and “Distinction” + Level 4 grade “Pass” GMAT 570 TELC TELC English C2, TELC English C2 Business, TELC English C2 University C1 level will be required for speaking and writing. C2 level will be required for oral and written comprehension. The required score for IELTS will be 7.5, and 105 for TOEFL.
- BA/MA degree taught in English from a university of recognized quality in an English-speaking country. The institution will need to appear in this list: https://anabin.kmk.org/db/institutionen
- At least 5-year professional track record in an exclusively English-speaking environment, with demonstrated experience in each of the four skills. A statement of proof demonstrating this experience, along with all relevant certifications, can replace the English proficiency certificate.

Transcript of records (in English or in a certified translation) certifying the completion of BA/MA and containing all grades. If the degree is not yet completed, also proof that the degree can in all likelihood be expected by the MULTICOM registration date.

If relevant for background certification, statement of proof (1 page max.) demonstrating relevant professional experience, accompanied by all relevant supporting documentation.

A CV (max 2 pages) highlighting the most relevant information about the applicant that has not already been provided by the documentation on English proficiency, academic record, and professional career.

A video presentation explaining the applicant’s motivation and suitability for MULTICOM (max 90 seconds).

From a university of recognized quality, in hand by registration date. The institution will need to appear in this list: https://anabin.kmk.org/db/institutionen. If not yet completed, sufficient proof must be provided to show that the degree will be in hand by the registration deadline.
Documented by ONE of the following:
- Official certification for a Bacherlor’s Degree (or equivalent title for that particular country or university), equivalent to at least 180 ECTS in 3 years, with full transcript including all grades.
- Official certification for a master’s degree, equivalent to at least 60 ECTS in one year, with full transcript including all grades.

Certified by ONE of the following:
- At least the equivalent of 30 ECTS of undergraduate training in ANY of the various areas directly related to the study of linguistic communication and its associated cognitive abilities, in hand by registration date. The list of possible relevant areas includes: general or theoretical linguistics, philosophy of language, psycholinguistics / psychology of language, language acquisition-bilingualism-second language acquisition, applied linguistics, cognitive science with direct connection to language, communication studies with direct connection to language, cognitive linguistics, phonetics and phonology, semantics, pragmatics, morphology, syntax, sociolinguistics, neurolinguistics, sign language, corpus/computational linguistics, language and intercultural communication, multimodal communicatio
- A master’s degree of at least 60 ECTS on one or more of the aforementioned areas of knowledge.
- A professional track record of at least 3 years with language or multimodal communication being central to the role. A statement of proof demonstrating this experience, along with all relevant certifications, can replace the undergraduate or graduate training in language, communication, and thought.

Evidence of basic quantitative training that ensures awareness of the main aspects of data science, management, and analysis.
Documented by one of the following:
- Undergraduate or graduate introductory courses in statistics equivalent to at least 5 ECTS.
- Demonstrable undergraduate or graduate quantitative training from other relevant areas, e.g., computational linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, BA thesis.
- Equivalent demonstrable quantitative skills in a professional role. A statement of proof demonstrating this experience, along with all relevant certifications, can replace the undergraduate or graduate training in quantitative skills.
Candidates with an excellent background in language, communication, and thought, but with insufficient certifications for quantitative skills, may be offered admission subject to completion of designated online training.
